The Boise City and Ada County Housing Authorities are pleased to announce that the agencies have been awarded additional Housing Choice Vouchers to provide permanent affordable housing to non-elderly persons with disabilities. The housing assistance announced today is provided through the HUD’s Section 811 Mainstream Housing Choice Voucher Program which provides funding to assist non-elderly persons with disabilities who are transitioning out of institutional or other separated settings; at serious risk of institutionalization; homeless; or at risk of becoming homeless. BCACHA will receive over $400,000 in assistance to enable the agency to help approximately 70 of the area’s most vulnerable residents on a long-term basis.
“These vouchers will enable the housing authority to assist persons with disabilities live in the most integrated setting, to access both affordable housing and supportive services,” said Deanna Watson, Executive Director of BCACHA. “As our region faces one of the most challenging housing affordability crises in decades, we know this will help leverage our work with community partners to assist persons with disabilities in finding a stable, affordable home that will allow them to live independently and to flourish.”
Applicants who are already on the waiting list for Housing Choice Vouchers will be evaluated for eligibility requirements of this program. Those whose situation qualifies them for this assistance will be contacted by the agency. Anyone with questions should contact Jillian Patterson, Housing Programs Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (208) 287- 1051.
