Frequently Asked Questions Related to the Federal Funding Freeze

1. What does the federal funding freeze mean?

The White House has temporarily suspended federal financial assistance, including grants and loans that support housing and community programs. The details are still unfolding, and we are monitoring the situation closely.

2. How will this impact tenants and landlords?

At this time, we do not have specific guidance on how existing housing assistance programs, including Section 8 and public housing funding, will be affected. We will update our website as soon as we receive further information.  We encourage tenants to continue following their lease agreements and pay their monthly rent portion.

We do know that we will be processing payments for February within the next few days. At this time, we anticipate no interruptions and expect to send out payments to landlords. We will update this page if that changes.

3. What programs could be impacted?

The freeze may affect programs such as:

  • Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers
  • Public Housing Operating and Capital Funds
  • Homeless Assistance Grants
  • Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)
  • Other federally funded housing programs

4. Will I lose my housing if funding remains frozen?

We understand this is a stressful situation. While it is too early to predict the full effects, BCACHA is working with HUD and policymakers to protect ongoing housing assistance programs. We encourage tenants to continue following their lease agreements and communicate with their landlords if they have concerns.

5. What should I do if I am concerned about my housing situation?

You can:

  • Stay informed through updates posted at bcacha.org
  • Contact BCACHA for updates at (208) 345-4907 as it relates to your housing
  • Reach out to local congressional offices to voice concerns

6. Is there anything I can do?
